College & University Scholarships


Here are some of the many college and university scholarships that are available--please check each schools' financial aid and scholarship website for the most up-to-date information.  Information about other college and university scholarships can be obtained either on-line or by inquiring at the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships of the school that you are interested in.
 

Aquinas College...To apply for any Aquinas scholarship, just submit an admission application.  You will be automatically considered for all scholarships for which you are qualified.  Apply free at www.aquinas.edu/undergraduate.

Spectrum Scholarships...These are awarded each spring at the Spectrum Scholarship Competition on the Aquinas campus.  Candidates generally present very high grades and test scores.

Jerome C. Byrne Scholarship...Full tuition and room, renewable

Academic Leadership Scholarships...minimum 3.5 GPA, high test scores and demonstrated leadership, $9,000 awards, renewable

Mosignor Bukowski Scholarships...minimum 3.5 GPA, high test scores, $9,000 awards, renewable

Presidential Leadership Scholarships...minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrated leadership, $5,000 - $8,500 awards, renewable

Father Philip Hanley Scholarships...minimum 2.7 GPA and church activity, $5,000 - $8,500 awards, renewable

St. Thomas Aquinas Scholarships...minimum 2.7 GPA, leadership, high test scores, $5,000 - $8,500 awards, renewable

Baker College

Career Scholarships...due May 1...Amount $6,400 ($400 for each term); Winners selected on the basis of academic achievement

 Board of Regents Scholarships...due May 1...Amount $24,000 ($1,500 for each term); Winners selected on the basis of academic achievement

Bowling Green State University, Ohio...these are all automatic and renewable

     Michigan Success Scholarship...automatic $3,654 (½ out-of-state fee) for being a Michigan resident with either a minimum 3.0 GPA or a 21 ACT
     Faculty Achievement Scholarship...automatic $1,500 for minimum 3.5 GPA and 23 - 26 ACT
     President’s Achievement Scholarship...automatic $2,500 for minimum 3.5 GPA and 27 - 36 ACT
     University Professor’s Scholarship...automatic $14,400 (full fees) for minimum 3.8 GPA and 30 ACT

Maroon and Gold Merit Recognition Scholarships begin with a 2.9+ GPA and a 1060+ SAT -or- 3.0+ GPA and 970+ SAT

Eastern Michigan University

Emerald Scholarship = $2,500 - $8,000/yr based on GPA/SAT

Award Graduation Scholarship = full tuition for years 3/4 with a locked rate for years 1/2;  3.0+ GPA/1030+ SAT

Presidential Scholarship = full ride;  3.5+ GPA/1200+ SAT

Grand Valley State University

Presidential Scholarships...Students with a 3.8+ GPA and 1430+ SAT are eligible for these awards which range from $4,000 - $7,000/year up to four years

Faculty Scholarships...Students with a 3.6+ GPA and 1370+ SAT are eligible for these awards which range from $1,000 - $3,000 per year up to four years

Award for Excellence Scholarships...Michigan students with a 3.5+ GPA and 1240+ SAT are eligible for these awards up to $1,200 per year up to four years

Kettering University

These are merit scholarships which are renewable for three years.
   GPA 3.0+ and ACT 31+...$10,000/year
   GPA 3.8+ and ACT 27+...$10,000/year
   GPA 3.0 - 3.79 and ACT 27 - 30...$7,500/year
   GPA 4.0 and ACT 23+...$7,500/year
   GPA 3.0+ and ACT 24 - 26...$5,000/year
In addition to merit scholarships, all accepted applicants may be eligible for awards, grants and endowed scholarships.  Also, student’s earnings from professional co-op must be taken into consideration.  Co-op earnings help offset the costs of a student’s Kettering education.  On average, Kettering students earn between $40,000 - $65,000 over the course of the professional co-op program.

Lake Superior State University

Laker Gold Competition...Must have a 3.5+ GPA and an 1160 SAT...competition for full tuition

Board of Trustees Scholarships

Distinguished = $5,000/yr...3.75+ GPA with 1360+ SAT -or- 3.0 - 3.74 GPA with 1450+ SAT

Academic Excellent = $4,000/yr...3.75+ GPA with 1160 - 1350 SAT -or- 3.0 - 3.74 GPA with 1300 - 1440 SAT

Honors = $3,000/yr...3.0 - 3.74 GPA with 11160 - 1290 SAT

Recognition = $2,000/yr...3.0+ GPA with 1030 - 1150 SAT

Achievement = $1,000/yr...2.8 - 2.99 GPA with 990 - 1020 SAT

Lansing Community College

The LCC Award and Scholarship information can be found at www.lcc.edu/scholarhips/application .  This year applications for awards and scholarships must be done online and will be due to the financial aid office on or before January 31.

Lawrence Technological University

Scholarship competition--for all Michigan high school students...win up to $4,000/yr for 4 years... www.ltu.ed/scholarshipcompetition

Freshmen Scholarships

Donley Scholars Program...full tuition, room, board, books, and fees for 4 years, highly selective

Buell Honor...full tuition for 4 yrs...highly selective

Presidential...$16.000/yr for 4 yrs...GPA of 3.8 or higher, SAT 1390 or higher

Elite...$14,000/yr for 4 yrs...GPA of 3.6 or higher, SAT 1310 or higher

Pre-eminent...$12,000/yr for 4 yrs...GPA of 3.5 or higher...SAT 1240 or higher

University Honor...$10,000/yr for 4 yrs...GPA of 3.3 or higher...SAT 1200 or higher

Trustee...$6,000/yr for 4 yrs...GPA of 3.0 or higher...SAT 1160 or higher

Northern Michigan University Presidential Scholars Competition...Nov. 3 - 4 or Nov. 10 - 11, 2019

Northern Michigan University Achievement Scholarships

Wildcat Achievement Scholarships begin with a 3.0 GPA and a 1060 SAT score.

Oakland University...To be considered for scholarships, students must apply and have all materials submitted to OU by March 1.  See more details at www.oakland.edu/scholarships

Platinum Presidential Scholar Award...3.9 GPA and 1450 SAT...$12,000/yr for 4 years

Gold Presidential Scholar Award...3.9 GPA and 1390 - 1440 SAT...$9,000/year for 4 years

Other scholarships...begin at 3.0 GPA and 1030 SAT

Saginaw Valley State University Scholarships

President's Scholarship: 100% of tuition and mandatory fees...3.9+ GPA/1270+ SAT -or- 3.0+ GPA/1350+ SAT -or- ranked 1st/2nd in your class...must compete in a scholarship competition
Founders' Scholarship: $5,000/yr...3.6+ GPA/1200+ SAT
Dean's Scholarship: $4,000/yr...3.0+ GPA/1120+ SAT
Cardinal Scholarship:  $3,000/yr...3.0+ GPA/1060+ SAT

University Award...$2,000/yr...3.7+ GPA/test optional -or- 3.0+ GPA/900+ SAT

University of Michigan Flint

  • $5,000/yr...3.25 minimum GPA...27 - 30 ACT...1280 - 1410 SAT

Wayne State University  (as of 3-10-14)

Presidential Scholarship...Application must be completed by December 1.  $11,500 for four consecutive years with membership in the Irvin D. Reid Honors College.

Distinguished Scholarship...Application must be completed by December 1.  $8,000 for four consecutive years with membership in the Irvin D. Reid Honors College.

Gold Scholarship...Application must be completed by December 1.  $6,000 for four consecutive years with membership in the Irvin D. Reid Honors College.

Green Scholarship...Application must be completed by March 31.  $3,000 for four consecutive years.

Academic Achievement Scholarship...Application must be completed by March 31.  $1,500 for four consecutive years.

Western Michigan University
